Evidence against global warming mounts

Just as we emerge from one of the longer and colder winters in recent memory, and evidence against Al Gore’s global warming Chicken Little-ism continues to build, it appears the Bush Administration may be buckling to the pressure, just as the pressure valve is set to release.

Wearing roller shades of his eyes, if Bush enacts a global warming agenda, it would mark a severe course correction; he was the one who reversed course from the Clinton-Gore Administration, who commited the US to the Kyoto Accords just prior to leaving office, and when Bush took over, he pulled the US out of the ecomony-destroying climate treaty.

Contrary evidence is piling up every day. Vast evidence now supports the idea that global temps peaked around 1998, have held steady since, and actually dropped about a full degree this past year, meaning that the full century’s worth of creep Gore tried to claim was destroying the plant was wiped out by one cold winter.

Sunspot activity is deemed the most likely cause of global temperature changes by most traditional scientists, including the Dr. Fred Singer and Dennis T. Avery, who wrote “Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years,” and not as a result of human activity, as Algore and his zittoheads allege.

Minnesota and the upper midwest have been hit my mid-April blizzards and freezing temps, with gardening and crop-growing season starting later than it has in many years. Of course, for the zittoheads out there, there is no such thing as contrary evidence… even the coldest year on record in decades is “further proof of global warming” to those mind-numbed robots.

Actually, the dramatic cooling over the last year was due to the transition from warm El Nino to cool La Nina conditions:

I’m in middle school and I go to a very liberal school and I’m a conservative. We’re having a debate in our science class and these articles help to argue against them. Thanks

    Mika,

Glad you find this useful. Global warming’s a pet peeve of mine and the fact that there’s so much contradictory evidence out there that is being ignored or supressed simply proves Gore’s agenda is one of politics, not of science.

    It is religion not science.

The problem is when you use Dennis Avery as a source against global warming he taints the picture. His foundation is funded in part by the Oil and petroleum industry and that taints his position. As a science teacher I have come to realize that the environmental extremists will fall on one issue as a cause and that is greenhouse gas emissions while the anti side fall into it is not real or it is cyclic. The reality is that some places on this planet are showing a significant melt. That is why countries are all trying to claim the area of ocean above the arctic circle as theirs so that they can begin drilling. You need only ask an Alaskan that lives in Fairbanks if they have seen a significant change and they will tell you yes. As a science teacher who teaches his students research methods the solution to the question is far more complex then both sides of the issue would indicate. In science we deal with variables. Scientists will say that the air filtering system of this planet are the trees. If we look at how many trees and forests were on this planet when I graduated the University of Maine Forestry School in 1977 as compared today one would see a significant decline. Some of the largest declines have been in our rain forests. On top of the decline in forest environments there has been a tremendous increase in human population numbers. What goes hand in hand wit population growth is habitat destruction and urbanization. The more roads cities, homes, parking lots that are created the more heat that we hold. In some parts of the US communities are literally putting a stop to their increased sprawl because they have come to realize that they are changing their local climates.

The fact that we are in a warming trend can not be challenged. In the 1950′s there were those who said that even a few degrees would change this planet. The question then comes down to the cause. What we don’t have are vast amounts of volcanic activity that have caused other periods of global warming but we do have are huge growths in human population along with habitat destruction. We do have the decline of forests our global filtering system. We do have increased urbanization, buildings, roads and parking lots and local climate changes as the result the heat that is stored in these areas. On top of this if all you do is go into the major cities in the world you will see a brownish haze in the summer ands in some cases year round round.

    Rob,

With respect, those who believe in global warming (referred to on this site as Algore zittoheads) believe that anyone who is a scientist who debunks global warming is “in the pocket of big oil,” so that critique holds little credibility with me. Over the history of my blog coverage on this issue, I’ve cited the work of scientists as far-flung as Russia and India, not just Dennis Avery.

And as for your statement that there is a warming trend and it cannot be challenged, you fall short on that, also. The most recent non-zittohead studies indicate that, in fact, the last five years has seen a global cooling trend, if anything, and has completely wiped out the warming cycle Algore goes all Chicken Little over.

There are minor warming and cooling trends throughout history. The last panic was over “the coming global ice age” in the 1970s, and the exact same supposed causes were cited as the culprits then, so pardon my skepticism, but I believe it’s warranted.

The biggest source of global warming is all the hot air generated by Algore and his zittohead followers spewing off at the mouth constantly, in the face of growing contradictory, and diminishing supportive, scientific evidence.

Oh, and that study that firmly establishes a series of cyclical warming and cooling cycles over the centuries? That was a product of none other than a Harvard University study – hardly a bastion of conservative thought.

    Hi all,

I really don’t see the problem in trying to clean up our planet and lower emissions and slow pollution rates. I like the idea of keeping larger portions of natural habitat and keeping the sprawl of humanity in some kind of order. However, I really don’t see any evidence showing that global warming has anything to do with people. I think the results of people being active against global warming are fairly positive, but I also think they are being done over a misconceived idea. I’m in college right now and I have to say that half of my professors think it’s nothing more than poor research, much like a new drug that gets fast-tracked onto the market by the FDA only to be taken off the market once people start dying from its side-affects. Global warming will be taken off the market soon because people will start realizing someone didn’t do their homework. One of my professors who is completely unconvinced about global warming is a geologist and meteorologist. If anyone should know something about it, he should. I think the issue here is politics, and the environment is simply a stepping stone for certain political parties. I am open to any evidence, but I’m not going to take it on faith from Al Gore. Some other posts spoke negatively about people’s associations and reputations, but is Al Gore really all that great? He did invent the internet after all.

    hello everyone,
ok, here’s the deal, i’m 13, and Aaron Algore DID NOT make the internet…..seriously he was probably in some committee that knew about the project and he went and took credit for it all…then again some doof has to right?…..another thing….gobal warming is a hoax! bye!

Hi everyone, my class is doing a project on Global warming and what we can do to stop this from happening ( since it’s obviously our fault)… I want to do my project on all the facts disclaiming global warming, as I think it is a load of b.s. to think that we could change the climate. We have to use measurable, identifiable and available sources of data, and of course I want the facts to be legit, and convincing. If anyone cold help me compile a good set of data to present to those suckers I would really appreciate it. It seems like there is a lot of evidence against it but I need to pick and choose the most prominent and substantial. Ideas? Links? Thanks.

    Hey,
My class is also doing a project on global warning and I was wondering if anyone had any input….If global warming isn’t really happening, then how do u explain the situation about the polar bears. Polar bears have been DROWNING because ice has been melting non-stop and they are stuck in the middle of the ocean with no ice to go on. We’ve all seen pictures of the polar bears on thin melting pieces of ice surrounded by tons of water, and yes we should admit that these pictures probably are a little dramatic but it makes a point. Not only are glaciers melting more than they ever have before, but the past 10 years have been the hottest years for quite a long time.

    Taylor,

You’ve been misled and misinformed by Algore’s misleading propaganda. For a more rational look at global climate change, read “Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years,” by Dr. Fred Singer and Dennis T. Avery, as well as “Climate of Extremes: Global Warming Science They Don’t Want You to Know” By Patrick J. Michaels and Robert C. Balling, Jr. If you prefer video over reading, try The Great Global Warming Swindle from the BBC.

From a scientific perspective, all this material is far more solid than emotion-based faked photos of polar bears on ice… Sorry.

Man-made global warming is a farce. My favorite question to the global warming lemmings is: “What is the number one factor that influences the weather?” Usually, after responses such as “carbon dioxide” – which is about 12th on the list – or blank looks, I point them to that orange orb in the sky; yes, the Sun.
