Moore proves he’s an ass (again)

Idiot liberal propagandist and Dansko shoes-wearer Michael Moore proved on August 29′s “The Countdown with Keith Olbermann” that even among the liberal media elite, he’s the biggest ass around. Commenting on the anticipated landfall of Hurricane Gustav on Monday, when the GOP National Convention was scheduled to get underway, Michael Moore uttered the following:

“I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven. To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River.”

It’s guaranteed any Republican uttering such hate-filled, uncaring crap would be flayed alive on pay-per-view for those words alone, and yet folks still consider Moore a liberal hero? Well, he doesn’t get a pass here at WonderfulPessimist.com.

Michael Moore, you just won yourself the Ass of the Year award. We feel relatively confident you’ll be just about the only contender for many years to come.

Meanwhile, sane people of both liberal and conservative varieties are hoping and praying that the damage and loss of life in New Orleans and throughout the storm-affected areas will be minimal.

Pelosi’s confirmation revoked?

Perhaps revoking Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s Catholic confirmation is in order after her severe misstatements about Catholic doctrine on life and sexuality on NBC’s Meet the Press last Sunday. Pelosi told host Tom Brokaw that “the doctors of the church” have not been able to define when life begins.

Talk about a hullabaloo! And her apologists made it worse, as Brendan Daly, her spokesman, said on Tuesday, that she had based her view of conception on the “views of Saint Augustine, who said: ‘… the law does not provide that the act (abortion) pertains to homicide, for there cannot yet be said to be a live soul in a body that lacks sensation …”’

However, several Catholic leaders have corrected Pope Pelosi, who is now likely to never qualify for NC health insurance, as Cardinal Edward Egan of New York, Cardinal Justin Rigali, chairman of the U.S. bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, and Bishop William Lori, chairman of the bishops’ Committee on Doctrine, issued statements correcting Pelosi.

Said Rigali and Lori:

“Uninformed and inadequate theories about embryology” in the Middle Ages led “some theologians to speculate that specifically human life capable of receiving an immortal soul may not exist until a few weeks into pregnancy. While in canon law these theories led to a distinction in penalties between very early and later abortions, the Church’s moral teaching never justified or permitted abortion at any stage of development.”

Puppet president promises no fear of new Cold War

Russian puppet President Dimitri Medvedev announced the formation of two new counties inside the independent province of Georgia and said, “We are not afraid of anything, including the prospect of a Cold War.” Puppet Master Vladimir Putin’s lips could barely be detected moving as Medvedev spoke.

All the picture frames in the world won’t hold a new map that includes South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which Russia has attempted to recognize by creating them out of thin air following their invasion of Georgia and a delayed retreat.

Russia is certainly using the timing of the political shift in the US to test the mettle of both the outgoing President Bush, as well as both newcomers aspiring to the White House, John McCain and Barry Obama. While we may not be overjoyed with McCain, or even like him much, we here at WonderfulPessimist.com have to admit we’d rather have McCain dealing with Medvedev than Barry, who couldn’t even vanquish the Clintons from his own nominating convention.

Bill snubs Barry

While it would have been nigh-well impossible for Sen. Hillary Rodham to no-show the acceptance speech of her former opponent, Barry Obama (check the records, that’s Barack’s original name), her “husband of convenience,” former Prez Bill Clinton, is under no such expectation.

CNN.com is reporting that Wild Bill is planning to skip the First Coming of the political messiah, Barry Obama, at Invesco Field on Thursday, likely watching (if he watches it at all) from the relative serenity of his Chappequa, NY home and the comfort of his hammock chair. WonderfulPessimist.com says, “You go, Bill!”

After making it publicly known that Barry had snubbed Hillary by not even vetting her for the VP slot, a Bill no-show is certainly in order. Keep up the in-fighting, Dems! We love it.

No Convention Bounce for Obama So Far

So far, there has been no “convention bounce” for the Political Messiah, Barack Obama, in the polls (which we at WonderfulPessimist.com never believe, anyway, whether polls favor the candidates we like or not). It appears Michelle Obama’s address on opening night did little to inspire anyone, and neither did the naming of party hack Joe Biden as Barack’s running mate.

No June Cleaver/Clair Huxtable makeover, complete with gold anklets, has been able to make most folks forget the “for the first time in my life, I am proud of my country,” slip-up, and her delivery of “I love my country” last night was simply not said with enough passion and conviction to convince anyone but the Obama Kool-Aid drinkers.

Anyway, the latest Gallup Poll claims John McCain is now up on Obama by four points. Ehh, whatever. Considering McCain is simply “the other Democrat” in the race, running under a GOP banner, it’s not like it matters anyway.

Obama’s startling originality

Yup, Barack Obama is startlingly original, a politician unlike any other before him, a political messiah we are completely unworthy to have grace us with his very presence. And Obama demonstrated that Thursday by charging that John McCain, his likely opponent this fall, is “too rich and out of touch with regular Americans.”

My L-RD and my Obama! Such words have never been spoken before that so clearly lay out the difference and dichotomy between Democrats and Republicans. You mean to say that McCain is “rich and out of touch”? Why, I can’t even imagine anyone else ever saying that! Such truths would be great vote generators! But then, I have no short-term memory, so I’m not even sure of my name.

You guessed it, “rich and out of touch” has been hurled against Republicans since honest Abe first ran for office.

Oh, and remember, folks, this is the same Barack Obama who, not that long ago, claimed that middle Americans are a bunch of hicks who cling to God and religion and… ehh, whatever other nonsense he spewed that day. And Obama calling McCain rich? That’s … rich.

What kind of “leader” is Obama?

If you’re wondering what kind of leader Barack Obama is, one need look no further than how he caved to the Clintons on the convention. On a week that should be about him, Obama gave away half of the convention to the woman he defeated, and her husband. Here’s the real stinger: it was more than they even asked for.

About the only demand he didn’t buckle to was a less-than-sober suggestion, late at night, that Obama offer his acceptance speech wearing some hot lingerie. No one knows if that suggestion was offered by the former president or the current senator, but at least Sen. Obama has the sense to say no to something.

Don’t mistake this for generosity; Barack Obama has little love for the Clintons, but the fear of losing votes to disgruntled Hillary supporters has him leaving his nice gray suits sopping wet at night. This is how Obama reacts to a little political pressure from someone he defeated.

Imagine that “strength of will” being tested by Mahmoud Ahmadinijad! Or Osama bin Laden! Heck, he’d not only withdraw from Iraq, but offer them Florida and Texas as an interest payment. Some “leader.”

Time “covers” Obama

If TIME Magazine covers were an accurate measuring stick of the nation’s mood, in November we’d be electing Barack Obama in a landslide. So far this year, TIME has featured Obama on its cover seven times, counting the one that’s about to hit newsstands.

McCain, the GOP presidential hopeful, has been featured only twice in the same period of time. Of course, it’s no secret that TIME Magazine is politically left of center, and does anyone really read it anymore, anyway? I suspect not. Even its pages are useless to soak up oil with when installing auto parts.

Still, it’s another example of left-wing bias in the media.

McCain leading Obama?

According to the most recent Zogby poll, GOP Senator and presidential hopeful John McCain is now leading Barack Obama nationally by five percent. While some conservatives are jumping all over this result as sort of a Progress lighting the way good news item, I’m not.

I’ve said before and I’ll still by it now: I don’t believe polls, except for the one everyone takes part in in early November. How anyone can say with any accuracy that a poll of maybe 5,000 people can accurately reflect the mood of a nation of 304 million is far beyond me. Of course, there’s a simple answer: it can’t.

As Mark Twain famously said, there are three levels of falsehood: lies, damn lies and statistics. His words are even truer today.

We cannot tax our way to lower gas prices

It’s almost comical if it weren’t so serious: no matter what the issue, Democrats today offer the same solution for all ills: raising taxes “on the rich.”

Of course, they’ll never stop to tell you that to be considered rich, by them, all you need is a two-income family where each spouse makes an average of $45,000, no matter how many or how few kids they have.

The gas price crisis is the latest example of liberals’ one solution fits all approach to life and politics. With the recent $4.00/gallon gas price crisis, instead of embracing domestic drilling, Dems led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid both voted to go on vacation rather than act on any measure with real solutions for the problem.

Their solution, other than a couple weeks in Maui following a week in Denver? Raising taxes on domestic oil companies.

OK, other than lining their personal pockets, how exactly does that bring down the price of gas? It doesn’t; in fact, it would skyrocket oil prices by at least another 50 cents. That’s no solution for real, working Americans.

For decades, Democrats have coasted on the false cliche that Republicans are “for the rich” and Dems are “fighting for the little guy.” That’s just not true, and this is the latest example.

Dems are not fighting for “the little guy” by stonewalling domestic drilling; they’re not even proposing to punish the right people with their tax increase. (It’s OPEC, not domestic oil companies, who are setting the world supply and price levels, after all.)

No, they’ll fight for the Sierra Club, Algore’s zittoheads, teachers unions and whoever else comes along. But if they ever till you they’re “for the little guy,” remember that it’s the single mom of two, working two jobs and still unable to make ends meet with fuel prices so high, who’s the sort of “regular Joe or Jane” getting hurt most by $4.00/gallon gas.

Oh, and that whole rationale about domestic drilling not bearing anything fruit for “at least five to seven years?” Well, on the first part, it’s false; but even if it were true, shouldn’t that be even more motivation to begin efforts now?

After all, gas prices have nearly doubled in just under two years; just imagine where they’ll be if we continue sitting on our hands and taking no action for the next “five to seven years.” Democrats shouldn’t even be trusted to sell acne products competently.

Anti-semitic Carter to speak to Dems

No matter what position Barack Obama takes on Israel, actions speak louder than words and that’s why the party’s plans to have former President and current antisemitic hate-monger Jimmy Carter address the Democratic National Convention next Monday is so disappointing.

WonderfulPessimist.com is in agreement with the Republican Jewish Coalition on calling for the Democratic party to remove Carter from the Denver convention program. Here is part of the RJC press release:

“Jimmy Carter’s long history of anti-Israel bias has rendered him unfit to address the Democratic Convention. It is incumbent upon the Democratic Party leadership and Senator Obama to remove Carter from the program in Denver. The Democratic Party and Senator Obama’s continued embrace of Carter and his anti-Israel bias sends a troubling message to the Jewish community. It stands in stark contrast to the GOP and John McCain’s pro-Israel stance,” said RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks. “Additionally, Senator Obama should reject Carter’s superdelegate vote. The hand that shook Khaled Meshal’s should not be allowed to rise in support of Senator Obama’s candidacy for president.”

We can even suggest some good moving services if Carter has already unpacked at his Denver hotel room. Next thing you know, the MoveOn.com Democratic Party will be inviting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to give a keynote address and put Obama’s name into nomination. Yeesh.

Obama running mate ho-hum

While every liberal in the world has their political iPods tuned into the Obama running mate choice, the truth is, I’m not that interested.

Sure, I know the names being tossed around out there. John Kerry is one of the scariest. Joe Biden is a “so what?” choice. Evan Bayh might lend a drop or two of sanity to the ticket, but isn’t that intriguing. And it only gets worse from there.

Eight months ago, Dems were ga-ga over the prospect of an Obama-Hillary ticket, but here we are one nasty campaign separated from that and it seems there’s no way this leftist “dream team” will come to be.

If Obama appears on a podium this Saturday with Bill’s Hill… well, that’ll be worth some commentary. But at this point, no matter who he picks, it’s gonna be a snooze-fest.
