Israel widens Gaza offensive
The death toll is around 300 now, but Israel has said their intention with the attack on Gaza is to “end rocket-fire into Israel for good,” and not to re-occupy the territory. The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, which is still around 20,000 strong, has seen a marked drop-off in rocket attacks by Hamas on Israel from Gaza since the offensive efforts have begun.
Most news accounts don’t emphasize it, but prior to Israel’s decision to assault Hamas leaders, the country was the victim of sometimes hundreds of rocket attacks per day. On Saturday, Israel suffered 130 rocket attacks by Hamas; by Sunday, that total dropped to twenty.
While President-elect Obama is posing for his post-Fenterdren PR shots, Israel has decided to act on its own. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Franken just barely ahead in US Senate fraud-recount
Determined to continue counting until they can manufacture the healthy margin they wan Al Franken to win by, the Minnesota Recount group announced that, for the first time, Franken had pulled ahead of Norm Coleman in the recount by about 46 votes.
Yet it’s not enough for Minnesota Acorn Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and his band of election fraud workers, so the recount is continuing even though the numbers have always broken Franken’s way since recounting began; at one point, Coleman had won re-election by as much as over 750 votes. That means about 800 votes have broken Franken’s way so far, with no Coleman shift to even balance it out.
Forget the Hydroxycut reviews, the real weight-loss is going on with Coleman’s vote totals as Minnesota DFLers continue to count and to count and to count until thay have Franken up by a couple hundred thousand or so.
Amazing how we can be watching election fraud right before our eyes but no one can stop it.

Minnesota is growing, but House delegation may shrink
The Land of 10,000 Lakes make soon have a solution to lake pressure. According to new estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Minnesota is growing, but not fast enough. Since the 2000 census, in fact, the state is believed to have gained just over 300,000 new residents, moving from 4.9 million to 5.2 million.
If the trend continues unabated into the 2010 census, that could mean the loss of one U.S. House seat from the Minnesota delegation; currently, Minnesota boasts eight U.S. Representatives, but that number could retreat back to seven in the next census. Although Minnesota’s population base is growing, it is not growing fast enough to keep pace with the highest-growth states, such as California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Arizona and North Carolina, all of which have grown by 1 million or more.
Louisiana and North Dakota were named as the only states to shrink since 2000; North Dakota’s losses are minor, but Louisiana’s losses numbered nearly 60,000, most of the population shift attributable to the migration following Hurricane Katrina.
Time will tell if Minnesota’s growth is too slow to keep their current Congressional delegation; in the meantime, we need to call back all our snowbirds from their Las Vegas hotel before the counting begins in earnest.

FOR SALE: One Illinois US Senate Seat, hardly used
Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich is the latest victim of the Obama machine. Blagojevich was recently caught red-handed trying to sell Obama’s soon-to-be-vacant Illinois US Senate seat. Among the many corruption charges against the Illinois Democrat, the most headline-making was his effort to make money off appointing Obama’s replacement for an interim term until a special election could be held.
According to the charges filed and numerous wire and online reports, Blagojevich was caught on tape saying that a US Senate seat is, “a *CENSORED* valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.”
Since then, Obama has courageously told the Illinois governor to step down! No, wait, that’s not right… he’s defending him and asking the GOP to back off his buddy. Oh well, at least he’ll be president soon and the people of Illinois won’t have to worry about Obama muddying the reputation of their state by voting “present” anymore.
Maybe Blago and Obama should vacation on the Outer Banks one last time before Obama’s oath of office. For old time’s sake.

AP’s Borenstein drunk on zittohead Kool-Aid
The sky is falling, according to the Associated Press and their writer, Seth Borenstein.
Borenstein is only the latest to pen a panicked story about global warming and file it under “news” rather than “opinion.” The radical Marxist left is certainly feeling their oats after the Obama victory, but now they are pressing ahead to make sure Obama does what they voted him in to do: destroy American society for the sake of Mother Nature.
Fortunately, in an exclusive fictional interview, Mother Nature told WonderfulPessimist.com, “Global warming? I’m feeling a bit of a chill, if my opinion counts for anything. I’ll be fine, though; I have a nice mug of herbal tea and honey. Don’t panic, dearies. I have a tankless water heater now and Mama’s just fine.”
Shortly after that fictional interview, a far-left hit-squad of zittoheads took Mother Nature out with a deadly spiked tea. Algore personally claimed full responsibility and reminded everyone he invented the Internet, in a hastily-released press release.

Coleman still leads by 292
No one is sending out any wedding invitations just yet, but with 86 percent of the mandatory recount completed, incumbent Minnesota Republican Senator Norm Coleman still leads DFL challenger Al Franken by a gap of 292 votes.
While the last 14 percent of votes are still to be recounted and endless court challenges are planned, what most folks don’t like to admit is that at no point has Franken taken the lead in any final vote totals. Determined to turn this Senate election into another Florida Recount mess, we can count on Franken whining and appealing and recounting throughout Coleman’s six-year term.
But at this point, it’s hard to imagine a scenario that legitimately swings the election in Franken’s favor.

International global warming court?
A British judge, Stephen Hockman, is leading a liberal drive to establish an international court to enforce environmental agreements between nations and “punish” nations who fail to comply with such agreements, according to the Telegraph UK Web site.
“The time is now ripe to set this up and get it going,” he said. “Its remit will be overall climate change and the need for better regulation of carbon emissions but at the same time the implementation and enforcement of international environmental agreements and instruments.”
Of course, part of “the time is now ripe” has to be translated thus: Barack Obama is the incoming US president and we have to get this passed while he holds the office. Get ready to get reamed, America. You voted for it, you’re gonna get it, kind of like the shocking price of renewal on term life insurance rates following the initial term.
It’s an Algore/zittohead wet dream.

Oil prices at $55 per barrel, OPEC wishes for $80
At close of market on Friday, oil closed at $54.43 per barrel, well below the high of $147 per barrel price suffered through this past summer. As consumers enjoy gas below $2.00 per gallon for the first time in years, the drop in price is nevertheless a fluctuation in demand. US demand for oil dropped 12.8 percent from a year ago, and even demand in China is down.
This roof cleaning action by the market after a price-roof-breaking summer is a welcome relief to most consumers. However, OPEC has been making noises about wishing prices would rise back to a so-called “fair price” of $80 per gallon, although the Saudis say $75 would be more appropriate.
Still, these are the same folks who, when oil was going for $147 per barrel, were claiming $60 per barrel would be a fair market price. Now that we’re back in that vicinity, they want to drive it up again?
Never trust an oil baron.
