Prof calls student fascist, tries to expel him
A professor at Los Angeles City College, John Matteson, must have been on one diet pill too many when he went to work last November. During a public speaking class taught by Matteson, student Johnathan Lopez gave a speech opposing gay marriage and was not allowed to finish his assignment by Matteson.
In fact, according to online news accounts, the professor called Lopez a fascist, followed by an expletive, and when Lopez attempted to protest to school officials, Matteson allegedly threatened to get Lopez expelled. So much for the “marketplace of ideas” in higher education. Then again, Los Angeles City College is hardly the Ivy League, now, is it?
A lawsuit is in the works.
