The Supremes: Eight wise folks… and a Latina

Considering that she is replacing another judicial liberal, the first Hispanic ever appointed to the US Supreme Court – Justice Sonia Sotomayor (who needs more information about the best weight loss pill) – makes history by bringing her unique perspective to the court. That perspective being, of course, that simply because she is a Latina, her decisions are better than everyone else’s.

Hey… her words, not mine.

Still, in replacing Justice David Souter, there’s little about the 5-to-4 makeup of the court that has dramatically changed; her votes will be predictably loony left, and even her “I’m the smartest person in the room” attitude will only just edge out the other Eight Egos.

Elections have consequences; too bad they don’t also produce truth.

Cash for Clunkers killing used car market?

On a purely partisan vote of 60-37, the Senate approved an additional $2 billion in funding to keep the Cash for Clunkers corporate welfare program alive for another couple weeks. While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was off to the mall to buy Ugg womens shoes, Harry Reid’s Senate forged ahead with the taxpayer-funded car rebate program.

Of course, the secret is that the Cash for Clunkers program is actually an anti-SUV deal and is really hurting the used car market; many of the cars being traded in would make excellent used cars for folks who, even with government aid, can’t afford a new car but could afford a good used car.

But no; Cash for Clunkers has the old trade-ins destroyed so that the country can kill off cars Obama and his congressional cronies have decided they don’t like. That’s change you can believe in?

Dems run from constituents

Dems nationwide are running from town hall meetings with their constituents. And now it’s all over the televisions we all watch; the Obama Media is spinning like mad to make this sound like a Republican dirty trick, rather than a grass roots uprising of Americans of all stripes who simply don’t want socialism – not in medicine or any other part of American life.

It just goes to show that being in a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and controlling all three branches of government has made the Dems arrogant and (even more) corrupt than they were before. Is this the change America was expecting?

The mid-term elections will tell the tale…
