Support for health care reform hits low

According to the latest poll by Rasmussen, support for the President’s health care reform proposal is now at an all-time low, dipping to only 41 percent in favor with 56 percent opposed. Or, as Algore would call it, “a unanimous, broad-based coalition of support over which debate is now over.”

Of course, the self-proclaimed inventor of the Internet notwithstanding, it’s pretty amazing that with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a clear majority in the House, as well as the White House, the Democrats are too afraid of poll numbers to do anything stronger than verbal support of acne treatment to full citizens. Or something like that…

Palin’s bio will be out in November

Former Alaska governor and vice presidential contender Sarah Palin’s autobiography will hit store shelves November 17, according to the latest reports; the book, titled “Going Rogue: An American Life,” will receive an initial print run of 1.5 million copies, and is coming out nearly six months ahead of schedule, clocking in at a respectable 400 pages or so.

While there’s no mention of any private placement memorandums, Palin’s book is expected to span her entire life, not merely her run for the VP spot with John McCain. Palin is a favorite among the GOP’s conservative wing for the 2012 race for the White House against Barack Obama.

Get immunized, or else?

New York is “leading” the way on mandatory flu vaccinations. Newsday.com is reporting that the state has mandated that all health care workers receive both the seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 vaccine. This is despite studies that give early indications that the seasonal flu vaccine may make one more susceptible to H1N1, rather than more immune to it.

While no one’s taking motorcycle jacks to those who dissent just yet, it is yet another example of Democratic power-mongering gone amok. The nanny state truly is out in full force!

Did Obama lie? Dems push for illegals on health care

While Republican congressman Joe Wilson has been crucified for shouting, “You lie!” at President Barack Obama during a national address on health care, recent events have proven Wilson’s comment to be prophetic, at the minimum. The Washington Times, among other sources, is reporting that Democrat politicians are pushing to include health care coverage for illegal immigrants in any health care reform bill Congress passes.

“Legal permanent residents should be able to purchase their plans, and they should also be eligible for subsidies if they need it. Undocumented, if they can afford it, should be able to buy their own private plans. It keeps them out of the emergency room,” said Rep. Michael M. Honda, California Democrat and chairman of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

Someone pass the air filters. This is exactly what Wilson was pointing out and what Obama categorically denied. So who’s lying now, Mr. President?

No protest for new Moore film

I heard about Michael Moore’s impending new file, Capitalism: A Love Story, in which he declares capitalism evil and then mislabels government-run everything (which the rest of the world calls socialism) as “democracy,” and I had this nice, insightful response all written and ready to roll.

And then I thought: Why bother? Anyone who still believes Michael Moore is anything but a complete ass is probably working in the Obama Administration and is hopelessly lost anyway.

So, screw it. I’m not going to give Moore any more of my bandwidth for his latest anti-American propaganda. The fat man has sung, and it’s you, Mikey. Now go apply your best eye cream and go to beddy-bye.

Obama shifts health care strategy

Well, don’t count the victory just yet, America.

Although the Politico and other sources are now reporting that President Obama is caving to pressure and is willing to forgo the “public option” in a compromise health care overhaul bill, don’t think for a second that the “public option” is going away any faster than a high-end mattress.

The truth is that to save face and perhaps his Presidency, Obama is willing to put on the public face of seeming disinterested in the “public option.” But that’s just a White House smokescreen. The real architects of the health care bill are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. And they’re both still committed to including a “public option” even if they have to stealth it through while the public is rollicking in a false sense of victory.

The battle’s far from over. Save your fireworks. This thing’s still in the opening rounds.
