New York Assemblyman would require organ donation

New York Assemblyman Richard L. Brodsky is a portrait of why the New York GOP isn’t very conservative. Brodsky, who nearly lost his daughter at the ages of 4 and 10 through kidney failure, has proposed to make it mandatory that every single New Yorker become a registered organ donor, whether they like it or not!

Brodsky, a Westchester Republican, has drawn some plaudits for his support of tax cuts in the state, but this proposal – by far as over-reaching and as much of a big government solution than any proposal by a New York Democrat – betrays his true sensibilities.

No one can fault Brodsky for feeling more strongly about organ donation than, say, mandatory online life insurance, but the best solution is to channel that energy into educational efforts, fund-raising drives, awareness campaigns and the like.

And organ donation can definitely be a life-saver and a good idea. However, to use the strong arm of big government to forcibly register every New Yorker as an organ donor – willing or unwilling – is Big Brother Government at its worst. When one loses the freedom to choose not to volunteer for organ donation – or anything else – what one is really losing is freedom itself.

There’s nothing conservative about that.

Vostok Antarctica equals global warming death-knell?

While Algore and his zittoheads continue preaching global warming, temperatures in Vostok Antarctica have almost never been lower since records have been kept.

The latest reports have the temps at -100 Fahrenheit with windchills as low as -142. Sounds like an area that needs a lot of global warming, if you ask me!

Algore might be better suited to various admin jobs than he is to the task of being a faux environmental expert. Time to retire, Al.

Fifteen years later, Clinton still jousting with Limbaugh

The Oklahoma City Bombing was a national tragedy grossly mishandled by then-President Bill Clinton, who disingenuously tried to blame talk radio and Rush Limbaugh for the event. Now, fifteen years later, Clinton’s still jousting with Limbaugh long after anybody really cares.

Of course, no matter the outdoor décor they are surrounded by, Limbaugh certainly played into Clinton’s hands on Friday. To illustrate the absurdity of blaming talk radio and Limbaugh for the Oklahoma City bombing, Rush on Friday referred to a recent Clinton speech and said any future acts of domestic terrorism are, ipso facto, Clinton’s fault.

Of course, as they always do, Clinton, his handlers and his willing media accomplishes missed the irony of the parody and are taking it seriously. Too seriously, claiming Limbaugh meant it literally, rather than as he intended it… as an illustration of Clinton’s demagoguery of fifteen years ago.

What else is new?

Euro media rallies behind Clegg

Call it “A Big, Slobbery Love Affair, Part 2″ if you’re Bernard Goldberg, but Britain’s Liberal Democrat party leader, Nick Clegg, is now being touted as “more popular than Winston Churchill” by the liberal Euro media. Call it the Obama Effect, Euro style.

The Lib-Dems are still tracking third in Great Britain and other than perform well in a single debate, Clegg’s done nothing of note to warrant his alleged popularity. Churchill came by his popularity under the weight of a lifetime of public service and tough, wartime decisions. Guess whose popularity is more impressive? But that’s the lib media for you; promote the guy you want, not the guy in the lead.

Sure, the race has tightened; that always happens. But the conservative Torrie party is on track to gain 40-50 seats and the Times UK, for one, is determined to make that sound like a disappointment.

Whatever. Give the Euro media the best fat burner you can find and they’ll still be as bloated by their political agenda as the New York Times. Gotta hate it.
