Axelrod leads White House to doghouse

David Axelrod, a senior adviser to President Barack Obama, appeared on National Public Radio’s game show, “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me,” and, among other embarrassments, compared Miss California to a canine in what passes for “liberal intelligentsia humor” these days… in other words, crass name-calling.

Miss California Carrie Prejean has been a target of the left ever since she answered honestly and humbly a question about gay marriage during the recent Miss USA pageant. Yet there is no outcry from the National Organization of Women so far over Axelrod’s comparison of Prejean, who is a woman, but not a liberal woman.

All of this undermines President Obama, who recently confirmed that he does not support gay marriage either, but has yet to suffer Axelrod’s canine comparisons for his stance. Perhaps Axelrod’s a bit too overwhelmed with presidential butt-sniffing to critique his boss with the same venom as a beauty pageant contestant unfamiliar with the best diet pills… then again, Obama might bite back, which shows the level of Axelrod’s intellectual cowardice.

Obama behind latest 9-11 scare … really!

The Obama Administration is behind the latest strategy to remind New Yorkers of September 11, 2001; they chose to get a “photo op” of Air Force One flying in front of the Statue of Liberty at an elevation of only about 1,000 feet. Naturally, the airheaded stunt caused a panic in NYC that included some 9-11-style evacuations of office buildings. Those free insurance quotes couldn’t arrive fast enough!

While the President quickly claimed, ala Colonel Klink, that he knew nothing, he saw nothing … well, it’s the President’s own plane, for crying out loud. We’re supposed to swallow that? Let’s just hope New York remembers it come Election Day 2012.

“For seven years, George W. Bush kept America safe from a second 9-11… In about 100 days, Barack Obama re-enacted it. Who do you trust with America’s homeland security. It’s time to put the adults back in charge. Palin-Perry 2012!”

Obama ignores 50-minute diss

President Barack Obama sat through a 50-minute anti-American diatribe by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega at the Summit of the Americas this weekend, and the strongest statement he made in response was to express gratitude that Ortega didn’t blame him personally for “the policy mistakes of the past.”

It seems President Obama is blithely unaware of the symbolic significance of being the President of the United States; when foreign leaders insult the US, he is indeed the target of said criticism. That Obama is too politically naive to realize this simply exposes the danger of his administration being in charge of foreign policy over the next four years.

Perhaps President Obama has feasted on too many of the best diet pills and his brain has actually lost weight.

FOR SALE: One Illinois US Senate Seat, hardly used

Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich is the latest victim of the Obama machine. Blagojevich was recently caught red-handed trying to sell Obama’s soon-to-be-vacant Illinois US Senate seat. Among the many corruption charges against the Illinois Democrat, the most headline-making was his effort to make money off appointing Obama’s replacement for an interim term until a special election could be held.

According to the charges filed and numerous wire and online reports, Blagojevich was caught on tape saying that a US Senate seat is, “a *CENSORED* valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.”

Since then, Obama has courageously told the Illinois governor to step down! No, wait, that’s not right… he’s defending him and asking the GOP to back off his buddy. Oh well, at least he’ll be president soon and the people of Illinois won’t have to worry about Obama muddying the reputation of their state by voting “present” anymore.

Maybe Blago and Obama should vacation on the Outer Banks one last time before Obama’s oath of office. For old time’s sake.

McCain narrowing gap

Ever since the last debate and the Joe the Plumber episode, McCain has been narrowing the gap between himself and Barack Obama; top major pollsters, John Zogby and Gallup, now put the race at only +3 for Obama, well within the margin of error.

I’m never a big believer in polls, but traditional wisdom is that, at this point, if the Democrat candidate isn’t up by double-digits, they are running a campaign that is in trouble, since the late swing traditionally goes toward the more conservative candidate in the race. McCain, due in large part to running mate Sarah Palin, just barely qualifies.

Of course, I still believe most of these polls oversample Democrats, so the danger for Obama could be even more significant than is believed. But ultimately, the only poll that counts in the national vote in November.

See you all at the polls, and on the screen of a Sony Vaio! Happy voting, America!

Powell defects GOP, endorses Obama

Former Gen. and former GOP Secretary of State Colin Powell defected from the GOP for good this past weekend, endorsing Barack Obama for president. While not exactly a slim shots spokesperson, Powell’s alliance with the GOP has always been tenuous at best; he cozied up to the Clintons without changing his party alliance in the 1990s, yet consented to serve at W’s Secretary of State during Bush’s first term.

Now, all such alliances with the GOP are null and void as the wishy-washy Powell has endorsed a candidate who, in the last session of Congress, compiled the most liberal voting record in the US Senate. Apparently ideology has little impact on Powell, who has over the years become more addicted to the beltway spotlight than to a particular political ideology.

Oh well. Maybe now the spotlight can shine on other deserving, and far more loyal, members of the GOP.

Last debate may ride on “Joe the plumber”

John McCain hung all his November chances against Barack Obama on Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher last week in the final presidential debate before the November presidential election. Joe the Plumber is the person who questioned Obama at a campaign rally about the effect Obama’s tax policies would have on him if he buys out the business he currently works for.

Obama’s response at the time was that, “we want to spread the wealth around,” a reply that didn’t exactly strike many as a pro-capitalism statement. Since the debate, the mainstream media has begun an all-out assault on Wurzelbacher, researching and publicizing his flaws and failings more thoroughly than they’ve dissected either candidate this political season.

During an appearance on Fox News over the weekend, Wurzelbacher said, “Hopefully they’ll have me to thank for it as far as telling people to get out and find their own answers. That’s where I hope they go with it.”

That’s a bit more ambitious, it seems, than trading Thanksgiving recipes.

Missouri governor charges Obama with abusive use of law enforcement

Missouri Governor Matt Blunt is living up to his surname. The straight-talking governor has charged that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has made use of Missouri law enforcement officials to, “threaten and intimidate his critics.”

In a press release, Gov. Blunt said:

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

Yup, you’re reading that right. If you can’t see the truth about Barack Obama after this, you may need to update your Lasik procedure.

Obama’s startling originality

Yup, Barack Obama is startlingly original, a politician unlike any other before him, a political messiah we are completely unworthy to have grace us with his very presence. And Obama demonstrated that Thursday by charging that John McCain, his likely opponent this fall, is “too rich and out of touch with regular Americans.”

My L-RD and my Obama! Such words have never been spoken before that so clearly lay out the difference and dichotomy between Democrats and Republicans. You mean to say that McCain is “rich and out of touch”? Why, I can’t even imagine anyone else ever saying that! Such truths would be great vote generators! But then, I have no short-term memory, so I’m not even sure of my name.

You guessed it, “rich and out of touch” has been hurled against Republicans since honest Abe first ran for office.

Oh, and remember, folks, this is the same Barack Obama who, not that long ago, claimed that middle Americans are a bunch of hicks who cling to God and religion and… ehh, whatever other nonsense he spewed that day. And Obama calling McCain rich? That’s … rich.

What kind of “leader” is Obama?

If you’re wondering what kind of leader Barack Obama is, one need look no further than how he caved to the Clintons on the convention. On a week that should be about him, Obama gave away half of the convention to the woman he defeated, and her husband. Here’s the real stinger: it was more than they even asked for.

About the only demand he didn’t buckle to was a less-than-sober suggestion, late at night, that Obama offer his acceptance speech wearing some hot lingerie. No one knows if that suggestion was offered by the former president or the current senator, but at least Sen. Obama has the sense to say no to something.

Don’t mistake this for generosity; Barack Obama has little love for the Clintons, but the fear of losing votes to disgruntled Hillary supporters has him leaving his nice gray suits sopping wet at night. This is how Obama reacts to a little political pressure from someone he defeated.

Imagine that “strength of will” being tested by Mahmoud Ahmadinijad! Or Osama bin Laden! Heck, he’d not only withdraw from Iraq, but offer them Florida and Texas as an interest payment. Some “leader.”

Time “covers” Obama

If TIME Magazine covers were an accurate measuring stick of the nation’s mood, in November we’d be electing Barack Obama in a landslide. So far this year, TIME has featured Obama on its cover seven times, counting the one that’s about to hit newsstands.

McCain, the GOP presidential hopeful, has been featured only twice in the same period of time. Of course, it’s no secret that TIME Magazine is politically left of center, and does anyone really read it anymore, anyway? I suspect not. Even its pages are useless to soak up oil with when installing auto parts.

Still, it’s another example of left-wing bias in the media.

All tied up?

While the conventions are still ahead, as are the announcements of running mates, at this point Barack Obama and John McCain are all tied up in the latest Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll on presidential preference.

Both candidates garner about 43 percent in the poll, leaving about 14 percent of the electorate undecided, if these numbers are to be believed. The news of these polls, if you ask me, is about as helpful as an AC compressor in a snowstorm, but there it is.

The only poll that matters, after all, is the one that takes place in November, at the ballot box. Beyond that, it’s all just best guesses at the mood of the moment. And I still can’t figure out why America is so intent on promoting either of these yahoos who have been part of the worst-rated Congress in US history…. Only nine percent approval!
