Lowest ever for Congress!

The liberal-stream media love to point out President Bush’s low poll numbers, but the story you’re not hearing from Katie, Charles and Brian is this: Congress’ approval rating is worse by far under Democratic leaders Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

In fact, it’s at an historic low, matched only one or two other times since polls have started being taken. Only 18 percent approve of the Dem-controlled Congress. Where are the headlines? Can’t allow ‘em. Might hurt the Dems. Can’t have that, can we, Katie, Charles and Brian?

How low is 18 percent? Well, in certain backwater areas of Louisiana, you can still dig up about 18 percent of the people who think Hitler had some good ideas. That’s how low 18 percent is.

It’s so low that if Congressional pay were based on job approval, Pelosi and Reid would be dining in the Old Congressional Boiler Room instead of at executive desks.

By comparison, Bush is soaring! His approval numbers stand at 32 percent! Lofty, ain’t it?

What this may actually reveal is what the real “extremist” factions stand at in terms of real numbers.

Only 18 percent of the hardest-core of hardcore Democrats can stomach the current Dem-controlled Congress. Only 32 percent can stomach Bush. The 50 percent in between can’t stand either side.

I believe it was Voltaire who put this situation into words best: Hell is other people.

Lil’ Bush? More like Lil’ Rudy, Lil’ McCain, etc.

All these Republicans running for the GOP nod for president are in need of a Dell memory upgrade if they want to lay claim to the Ronald Reagan mantle. Bowing and scraping to imbalanced, biased polling data that Reagan himself never listened to, they have made crapping on the head of the current GOP President, George W. Bush, a national pastime.

Acting no more mature or intelligent than the recent cartoon trash, ‘Lil Bush: Resident of the United States, the GOP front-runners are doing the Dems’ work for them in trashing the president rather than going against the grain, showing leadership, being people of character and supporting their fellow Republican, even while differing on some issues.

Reagan’s Rule was simple: Thou shalt never speak ill of a fellow Republican.

None of the midgets currently running to replace GWB are worthy to tie his shoelaces, let alone wear the Reagan mantle. Maybe they can grow into it, but they’re not there yet.

Uh-oh: Bush caves on climate

One of the most heroic political acts of George W. Bush’s first time, prior to the challenges of September 11, 2001, was his willingness to go against the enviro-wacko sentiments of the previous administration and refuse to enact the one-sides, anti-capitalist Kyoto accords pushed by Al Gore.

Apparently, President Bush has been pushed into submission by Gore at long last, as he agreed in principle to follow a new set of climate standards, not that different from the Kyoto Accords, following the most recent summit of the G-8 leaders.

According to BBC News.com, “No mandatory target was set for the cuts, but [German PM] Mrs Merkel’s preference for a 50% emissions cut by the year 2050 was included in the agreed statement.”

Frankly, the world would have been better off if the group had spent the entire meeting playing Ping Golf.

Is Edwards enough of a grown-up to be president?

Dismissing everything from September 11 to present – the entire War of Terror – as a “bumper sticker, not a plan,” Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards has displayed a shocking lack of maturity, and possibly a need for pet supplies rather than campaign contributions.

It opens up the question of whether Edwards, despite his age, is enough of a grown-up to be president of the United States. It’s fine to be opposed to the war, to suggest there’s a different way to conduct it, even a preference for ending it before the war is won. Folks can debate the merits of such proposals and base their voting decisions of it.

But to deny six years of actual history as a campaign slogan is to display such a shocking lack of maturity and temperament as to make one wonder if Edwards has the gravitas to serve. Certainly, the comment drew a response from the current president, George W. Bush. On Thursday at the White House, in a news conference, Bush took a swipe at Edwards, indirectly, when he said, “This notion that this isn’t a war on terror is, in my view, naive.”

Naive, immature and dangerous, in the Wonderful Pessimist’s assessment. Of course, Edwards’ entire party is burying their heads in the sand of late, wanting to wipe out the very term “War On Terror” from official government use.

Sure… the war is like a bad dream. If you ignore it, it’ll go away. Just keep believing that through the 2008 elections, Dems. You’ll be doing the GOP a big electoral favor. Thanks!

Is it his cologne?

Just about every GOP presidential aspirant is running in two opposite directions at the same time: they all want to claim the Ronald Reagan mantle, and they all want to distance themselves from George W. Bush.

Whether it’s Guiliani, Romney, McCain or one of the Seven Dwarfs, it seems like President Bush is as popular as a New York ticket broker 20 minutes after a football game is over; no one wants to be around him.

That’s not Reagan-esque.

One thing Reagan knew well is, you stick by your friends and fellow party members through thick and thin. But simply because a handful of MoveOn.org Democrats have stirred up Bush’s negatives, all these wannabe mini-me Reaganites are leaping to play “Dogpile on W.”

Well, remember, you GOP candidates: one of you just may win the office and when you do, is this the kind of “loyalty” you’d want from your own supposed allies?

Truth is, Bush may not be as good of a social conservative as Reagan, but in terms of foreign policy, he resembles Reagan’s “No BS” approach far more than any of these “American Political Idol” wannabes.

Bush has understood the nature of the terror war far better than just about anyone else. This country needs its next president to be as fearless. And it needs its next president to be as pro-Israel as Bush.

If we fall short of that, our country may see a much bleaker future in 2009 and beyond.

Pelosi should face censure

“Brave.”

“Bold.”

“Courageous.”

The praise for Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been flooding in; but it’s not from the “usual suspects” like her Democratic colleagues or her willing accomplices in the press. No, the praise for Pelosi is coming, this time, from Islamic terrorists and state sponsors of terror. And she’s foolish enough to believe her own press.

Here are some samples from the WorldNetDaily.com article by Aaron Klein:

“Pelosi’s visit to Syria was very brave. She is a brave woman,” Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity.

“Nancy Pelosi understands the area (Middle East) well, more than Bush and Dr. (Condoleeza) Rice,” said terror leader Khaled Al-Batch, a militant and spokesman for Islamic Jihad. “If the Democrats want to make negotiations with Syria, Hamas, and Hezbollah, this means the Democratic Party understands well what happens in this area and I think Pelosi will succeed. … I hope she wins the next elections.”

“The Americans know and understand they are losing in Iraq and the Middle East and that their only chance to survive is to reduce hostilities with Arab countries and with Islam. Islam is the new giant of the world.” said Abu Abdullah, a leader of Hamas’ military wing in the Gaza Strip.

I have some more appropriate descriptions for Pelosi.

“Useful idiot.”

“Neville Chamberlain of the 21st century.”

“Traitor.”

During a time of war, in defiance of her own country’s foreign policy, Pelosi goes overseas to score political points against Bush and allows herself to be used by the enemy, gives aid and comfort to them, while overseas. Nice. Straight out of the Jane Fonda Political Workout video.

Speaker Pelosi needs to learn that there’s a big difference between being president and being Speaker. Republican Newt Gingrich lost sight of that in 1994 when he was Speaker and look where it got him. And Newt never took it this far.

Of course, since Pelosi’s a Democrat and “the first woman Speaker in US history,” she’ll get a pass on this by the drive-by media, just like always. If the tables were reversed and it was a Republican in the folding chairs opposite the president of Syria in defiance of a Democratic president, you can bet the New York Times itself would be calling for the death penalty for the GOP traitors. For Pelosi, though, they’ll look the other way.

Bush won’t go nuclear over this. Pelosi’s lucky Wonderful Pessimist isn’t in the White House; I’d suspend her visa and refuse to let her back in the US.

At least Poland recognizes Reagan’s greatness

At least Poland recognizes the role Ronald Reagan played in delivering the world from the evils of communism. While liberals in America still shudder at the mere mention of his name, citizens of Katowice, in southwestern Poland, have proposed erecting a statue to the memory of the conservative, anti-communist stalwart, according to Breitbart.com.

The statue of Reagan would replace a statue of Soviet soldiers who drove out the Nazi forces of Germany at the end of World War II, and would rename the city’s Freedome Square to Ronald Reagan Freedom Square.

Contrary to Brietbart.com’s report, Reagan did not serve as US President from 1980 to 1988; considering that US presidents are sworn in and leave office in the January following any election year, his actual term of office was 1981-1989.

City hall spokesman Waldemar Bojarun said the city would consider the issue and that he had enormous respect for Reagan, but that the cost of the change could be prohibitive… and estimated cost equivalent to $168,000 in US dollars.

If the Reagan memorial does not occur in Katowice, there are already separate plans to erect a Reagan memorial in Warsaw, Poland, the country’s capitol. While so many at home are still working hard to besmirch the memory of Reagan, it’s interesting that there are those in Europe who still recognize the important role he played in winning the Cold War between communism and capitalism, totalitarianism and freedom.

While conservatives and liberals battle each other over immigration issues like conducting a DNA test for immigration, gay marriage, and how big a plane Nancy Pelosi should jet around in, one has to wonder where the next big vision for our country will come from, once anti-terrorist George W. Bush leaves office.

Bush considering new "global warming" policy?

The rumor mill is rife with the possibility – denied by White House press secretary Tony Snow – that President Bush may be set to reverse course and lay out a completely new “compassionate conservative” agenda for global warming. If this is the case, it’s probably because after January 2009, W. will be hanging up his address plaque somewhere other than 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC.

Global warming is one of the biggest science scams to hit popular culture since Al Gore floated the idea that he personally invented the Internet. Strangely enough, the former Vice President is behind a lot of the global warming myth as well.

Even by the most conservative estimates, Earth is 6,000 years old and most scientists believe it’s millions and millions and millions of years old. Weather patterns that take hundreds, if not thousands, of years to go through are not only possible, but likely. In fact, a recent Harvard study – the most comprehensive of its kind – indicates this is the case and even supports the idea that we’re coming out of a period of global cooling, as well as the idea that as recently as the 1600s or so, global temps were far above what they are now and the world didn’t exactly end.

But don’t let facts stand in the way of panic merchants and scientists striving to protect their federally-funded research. Far be it from anyone to admit that there’s not a crisis, when only crisis-fueled research pulls in the grant money that employs all these panic-pushers… and Al Gore, who any day now should be announcing that he’s the one who created the Earth in seven days, not that glory-hound, God.

Stay the course, W! Global warming is a myth, even if the honest scientists to have the proof are repeatedly muzzled by the vested-interest global warming researchers who want to keep their jobs and their federal grant money flowing in unabated.
