Hamas rejects compromise, peace with Israel

Count Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar among those who are opposed to any form of compromise or even peace with Israel. The Palestinian strongman, in a Jerusalem Post story, said this:

“Today marks the start of direct negotiations between someone who has no right to represent the Palestinian people and the brutal occupier, to provide a cover for Judaizing Jerusalem and stealing the land,” Zahar said.

While refrigerator filters may be rare in Israel, straight talk is even rarer, so let me ask the Obama Administration a straight question: Do you STILL think Israel’s the roadblock to peace, here?

Give me a break…

Israel widens Gaza offensive

The death toll is around 300 now, but Israel has said their intention with the attack on Gaza is to “end rocket-fire into Israel for good,” and not to re-occupy the territory. The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, which is still around 20,000 strong, has seen a marked drop-off in rocket attacks by Hamas on Israel from Gaza since the offensive efforts have begun.

Most news accounts don’t emphasize it, but prior to Israel’s decision to assault Hamas leaders, the country was the victim of sometimes hundreds of rocket attacks per day. On Saturday, Israel suffered 130 rocket attacks by Hamas; by Sunday, that total dropped to twenty.

While President-elect Obama is posing for his post-Fenterdren PR shots, Israel has decided to act on its own. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Antisemite Carter on “hug a terrorist” tour

Instead of promoting Viagra for doing commercials for natural acne treatments, former President and antisemite Jimmy Carter is spending a week or so in the Middle East, visiting with as many mortal enemies of Israel as he can manage to fit into his schedule, despite the fact that he hasn’t been president in over 27 years.

While his meetings with Hamas are being covered by the liberal media as though they mean something, the truth is that the US opposes Carter’s trip and have made clear that he does not represent official US policy. Of course, anyone who thinks Carter is doing this purely to frustrate President Bush doesn’t have a very long memory; Carter has been a pain in the keister to sitting presidents ever since Reagan took office, and even flouted the Clinton Administration – a fellow Democrat – to promote his own agenda.

The older he gets, the more embarrassing James Earl Carter becomes; his recent spate of antisemitic writings and actions only further besmirch the post-presidential career of a man who, although liberal, at least used to have my respect. Now, that is simply no longer the case.

Islamic Jihad attempts to bomb Israeli day care

A Palestinian militant group believed to be funded in part by Iran attempted to bomb an Israeli day care on Monday.

While the bomb, launched from the Gaza Strip, did not detonate and no children were hurt, the incident has been condemned by most international leaders – who then turn right around and tell Israel not to retaliate in even the most mild of ways, such as cutting off the flow of supplies until Hamas and Islamic Jihad call a cease fire. These same international leaders warn that such action would be, “morally indefensible.”

Some of these leaders apparently need brighter home lighting, since they can’t see the forest for the trees. That’s like having someone attempt to shoot a presidential candidate, but then tell the Secret Service not to take the shooter down because, “Well, he missed, so no harm done.”

Would that make sense? Certainly not!

Neither does telling Israel not to retaliate in any way at all.
