Obama’s mid-term theme: It could be worse

After two years on the job, that visionary fire-breathing agent of change, President Barak Obama, is now whistling a different tune: Don’t change a thing! Instead of acknowledging honestly that things are not good, Obama’s inspiring message in this time of national crisis is, in effect, “Well… it’d be worse with the other guys.”

That’s a tough, tough sell. Even if he were wearing some sharp-looking Ugg boots, it’d be a tough sell.

When Reagan faced a tough transition in 1982, his message was notably different and summed up by the phrase, “Stay the course.” It was a theme that said, “What we’re doing is working… Just give us a little longer.” And it worked.

That’s not the same message at all as “It’d be worse without us.” Could this be 1994 all over again? Let’s hope so!

Dems worry as Obama becomes Big Bully

Forget about Orwell’s Big Brother; the Obama Administration is looking to become known by an even more ominous title: Big Bully. That’s the concern among the nations’ governors as the Obama Administration prepares to file suit against the state of Arizona because they don’t like the state’s immigration policy… which basically says, “Let’s act like we have one.”

Democratic governors are concerned primarily on the basis of how it could cost the party seats in this fall’s mid-term elections; they may not disagree with the challenge… they just want to win re-election first. Meanwhile, the GOP is warning how Obama’s bullying is basically an attempt by the Fed to grow its power even further beyond its Constitutionally-defined powers to make basically every law as something to be defined and decided at the Federal level.

That’s not a Constitutional Republic, folks; it’s socialism, and it’s about as useful as a 10-year-old taking prenatal vitamins.

Obama shifts health care strategy

Well, don’t count the victory just yet, America.

Although the Politico and other sources are now reporting that President Obama is caving to pressure and is willing to forgo the “public option” in a compromise health care overhaul bill, don’t think for a second that the “public option” is going away any faster than a high-end mattress.

The truth is that to save face and perhaps his Presidency, Obama is willing to put on the public face of seeming disinterested in the “public option.” But that’s just a White House smokescreen. The real architects of the health care bill are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. And they’re both still committed to including a “public option” even if they have to stealth it through while the public is rollicking in a false sense of victory.

The battle’s far from over. Save your fireworks. This thing’s still in the opening rounds.

Obama approval drops below 50 percent

Less than half the country – 49 percent – either slightly or strongly agree with President Obama’s job performance. Of those, only 30 percent strongly approve, a significant dip in the tracking poll published by Rasmusson Reports. Whether you consider that order fulfillment or wish fulfillment depends on the individual.

But a thin majority of Americans – 50 percent – disapprove of President Obama’s job performance. This shift in opinion could stem from Obama’s bull-headed insistence on getting a health care reform plan rushed through Congress before the August recess. Some new disapproval, however, comes from the slower timetable for withdrawal from Iraq that President Obama is embracing, rather than the “immediate withdrawal” he promised the far left when he was on the campaign trail.

Pravda touts death of capitalism under Obama

At least one Russian newspaper of record is touting already the death of American capitalism under President Barack Obama. Please note: this is not a claim by a Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity worshiping the porcelain tile; this is, quite simply, the opinion of Pravda. And guess what, Barack? Russia still hates us!

Great work, Barry.

Of course, there’s always a chance the GOP will grow a pair and stand up, even in a noticeably Dem-overbalanced Senate and House, and at least utter a whimper as our country’s financial system goes down in flames. But I’m not sure they’ll even do that.

Oh, for a real conservative. Whither the next Ronald Reagan?

Obama most polarizing Prez in modern history

Dems really really love President Obama and Republicans… really really don’t. That’s the “big revelation” from a recent Pew Research Center that determined that, since Nixon, no modern president has been more polarizing that President Obama… not even George W. Bush, his “much hated” predecessor.

The hard numbers are these: President Obama has a 61-point gap between the percentage of Dems who approve of his job performance, and the percentage of Republicans who approve of his job performance. Bush’s gap was only 51 points.

Of course, this pole is on early job performance, not whole careers, and let’s be frank… Bush didn’t exactly land with a controversial boom the way President Obama has. It’s not likely to get much sweeter for Obama down the line, either, as approval ratings for presidents tend to erode the longer they are in office and although the gap is 61 points, that’s likely to narrow as more Dems grow dissatisfied with Obama’s reign; it numbers aren’t likely to act like car insurance rates among Republicans, either, as midterm elections and Obama’s re-election bid are likely to only make matters worse.

Obama gets cocky

Joining his former colleagues in the US House and Senate, President Obama has decided to adopt a cocky tone in his dialog on how the nation should proceed with a $900 billion stimulus bill that includes funding for such things as federally funded abortions.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been quoted as saying that funding abortion would stimulate the US economy.

What?

As his ideas are being questioned more closely, President Obama is adopting a cocky tone similar to that employed by Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, constantly reminding everyone, “We won the election, so we get to do what we want.”

That kind of arrogance won’t extend President Obama’s honeymoon period in Washington for very long. Look for rugs to start being pulled from under him very soon by the same media that “made” him.
